Dependencies
A task can wait on other tasks: mark it as blocked by them and TasksBoard shows a lock on its card until every blocker is completed. Adding a blocker is a Premium feature (“Dependencies”).
Mark a task as blocked
Section titled “Mark a task as blocked”- Open the task.
- Click the lock button (“Blocked by…”) in the row of buttons under the details.
- Search an open task of the board (any list) and pick it. Repeat for more blockers.
The blockers are listed in the editor under “Blocked by”; hover one and click the cross to remove it. The task’s card shows a lock icon while at least one blocker is open; hover it to see which tasks still block it.
What a task blocks
Section titled “What a task blocks”Open a task that other tasks wait on: a “Blocks:” line lists them.
Completing
Section titled “Completing”- Completing a blocked task asks for confirmation first (“This task is still blocked”); click “Complete anyway” to complete it all the same.
- When you complete the last blocker of a task, a message tells you ”… is now unblocked”.
Find blocked tasks
Section titled “Find blocked tasks”Open the search filters and use the “Dependencies” filter: “Blocked tasks” or “Tasks that are not blocked”.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- A dependency is stored in the task’s details as a
⛔ blocked by:line followed by the ids of the blockers. Google Tasks and other apps show that line; leave it alone and TasksBoard keeps reading it. - A completed blocker no longer blocks, but stays listed (checked) in the editor until you remove it.
- If a blocker is deleted, the reference is ignored and dropped the next time you save the task from its editor.
- Blockers can live in any list of the same board; a task moved to another board keeps blocking.
