Tasks assigned from Docs and Chat
When someone assigns a task to you inside a Google Doc (with a checkbox and an assignee) or in a Google Chat space, Google creates the task in your Google Tasks account — and it appears in TasksBoard automatically.
Assigned tasks always land in your default list
Section titled “Assigned tasks always land in your default list”Google always places these tasks in your default list (“My Tasks”), on the board that contains it. This is Google’s own behavior — documented in Google Tasks Help: neither you nor TasksBoard can choose a different destination list at assignment time.
Move the task to the right list manually
Section titled “Move the task to the right list manually”To organize an assigned task on your boards, move it to the list where it belongs:
- Find the task in your default “My Tasks” list.
- Drag and drop it onto the desired list — or open the task and use the “Move to” option to pick a list, including a shared list on another board.
The task stays linked to the original document or Chat space: you will see a chip on the task that opens it right where it was assigned.
